Professor Rana Atabay Kuşçu is the head of the Department of Economics and Finance, and manager of Sustainable Development Application and Research Center (SDARC)  at Istanbul Medipol University. Her research interests are international trade, regional integrations, sustainability and trade relations, and vocational training. With more than 20 years of experience, she has published works in her fields of study and participated in various seminars and conferences.

The first Jean Monnet Module application, which she made by integrating her study area with the European Union studies, was honored by the European Commission with acceptance. With the project, it is expected that students will increase their professional knowledge, skills, and social competencies. At the same time, the university would have the opportunity to diversify its educational opportunities and develop international cooperation.

Jean Monnet’s Module “Green Deal, Sustainable Trade and Türkiye’s Integration” is among the 10 successful projects supported by the European Commission from Türkiye, among 242 applications.

EU-(TR)ADE is a university curriculum development project aiming to present the students of Istanbul Medipol University with an in-depth analysis of the EU Green Deal, its effects on trade policies, and the relations between Türkiye and the EU within the framework of the Green Deal.

This is a 3-year project designed to raise awareness among students in EU studies, particularly the EU Green Deal and sustainable trade.

The rationale behind this project is the growing interest among students in EU affairs. As the current social, political, and economic challenges can never be fully understood from local and regional perspectives alone, it is crucial for university students to learn about the EU’s responses to contemporary global crises, specifically economic ones, so that they can develop a better understanding of today’s dynamics between economy and environment.

She has presented information and comments in related fields through digital and visual media. She was the content director and presenter of the weekly energy program “Yeşil Dönüşüm” at BloombergHT. She is a founding member of the Yeşil Akademi Platformu social initiative.
